Strasburg Engagement Session

August 8, 2021

With the autumn colors, the view in Strasburg Virginia couldn’t be more gorgeous for Danielle and Darren’s engagement session. It was a beautiful drive and the clouds on the blue ridge mountains were absolutely stunning. I even pulled off the road to snap a pic and shared it in my insta-story. (If you don’t follow me on instagram you should!!). The atmosphere was laid-back and happy as I met with Danielle and Darren at their home and visited a neighboring farm. It felt as if I have known them for years. I found myself unable to stop smiling with this photogenic couple. The main battle was the dirt road with potholes and a sharp drop off on the side. Danielle said that road always made her a little nervous, but the romantic little clearing in the woods was worth it! The pictures came out so lovely.

Next we headed to the Deer Rapids Road Suspension Bridge in Strasburg, Va because of the special place it has in Danielle and Darren’s hearts. They come here on many summer days to launch kayaks and fished nearby with Darren’s six year old son. I must have been brave or enamored by the couple and the awesome photography, but the height didn’t faze me as I thought it would.

The soft glow from the setting sun illuminated the fall colors, bouncing off the chain link guard rails, and cascaded on the tall golden grass underneath the suspended bridge. It was so beautiful. I got some thorns stuck in my pant legs stomping through the weeds trying to grab the shot. The behind the scenes of shooting a session is not exactly glamorous, but it creates breathtaking results such as this one. We ended the session then as evening approached. As much as I didn’t want the day to end, I loved how the pictures came out.

Despite their setbacks due to COVID, the future bride and groom have not allowed it to steal their joy and excitement. It was such a pleasure working with this couple. The love they hold for one another is so evident. The cute smiles shared and how easily they would pose gazing into each other’s eyes would make any heart melt. It was so blissful and romantic. Although their wedding date has been moved to the following year, I am so excited to be chosen as their wedding photographer and see where their journey takes them.
